Rashmi Vinayak Receives Facebook Distributed Systems Research Award One Of Just Eight Researchers To Receive An Award Thursday, April 2, 2020 - by Jenn Landefeld Rashmi Vinayak has been awarded a Facebook Research Distributed Systems research award. Vinayak, an assistant professor in the Computer Science Department, was one of only eight reserachers selected to receive an award out of a total of 63 proposals sumited from 12 countries and 50 universities. The award will support her work focusing on improving the resource and energy efficiency of large-scale data centers.Facebook launched the distributed systems research awards at the 2019 ACM Symposium on Operating Systems Principles (SOSP), which is the premier biennial conference for researchers, developers, programmers and teachers of computer systems technology. Vinayak earned her Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science at the University of California at Berkeley, where she also worked as a postdoctoral researcher before joining CSD in 2017. Her previous awards include an NSF CAREER Award, the Eli Jury Award from Berkeley's EECS Department, a Google Faculty Research Award, a Facebook Communications and Networking Research Award, and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Memorial Lecture Award.
